Greetings and Salutations!

Summer is just around the corner! (Although, today, it feels like it’s already here -- Mother Nature's playing with us, I think.) (I hope!)

Here at GSFABA and West County Arts & Culture, we’ve kicked off spring with a couple of major events!  The 21st Annual Auction was a terrific success!  THANK YOU to everyone – donors, buyers, organizers, volunteers, those on stage and those behind the scenes – who helped make it a wonderful evening and a successful fundraiser, too!  The proceeds from the auction support on-going programs including all our events, regional marketing, support for arts & cultural initiatives, and economic development activities throughout the region. Thank you.

We also held our annual breakfast on May 5 at Berkshire East which was attended by almost 80 members, honored guests, and elected officials.  Read more about that below.

An exciting Second Saturday is coming together for June 10 including a performance by one of our HATCH projects, Exploded View at the Potholes in Shelburne Falls.  Read more on this below, too.

Coming up for us in the office this month: reapply for the Cultural District designation for Shelburne Falls, write grant requests for West County Arts & Culture activities (including HATCH and the Fabulous February Fringe Festival), engage businesses with our world-class events sponsorship opportunities, and, most importantly, respond to the several member inquiries, requests, and ideas that come across the desk every day.  Also the on-going projects of this newsletter, Business After Hours, the Bridge of Flowers Race, the Bridge Dinner, and, before you know it -- Moonlight Magic will be on the horizon.  Whew.

Looks like it’s going to be a great summer!

Stay safe.  Wear sunscreen.  Keep those cards and letters coming.

P.S.  On a personal note:  I serve as director and M.C. for the Shad Ladder Radio Hour (a monthly radio show and a HATCH project) and I’ll be returning to the STAGE as an actor for Conway’s 250thCelebration the second weekend of June.  Hope to see you at a show!
